Hi,
Here i'm explaining web driver point of view.
For Assertions the code is
Assert.assertEquals(actual, expected)
Above snippet
is usually used to make comparison of actual and expected stuff,but if comparison is not satisfied then execution stops there only (Terminates).
For verification the code is
Assert.IsTrue(verifyTextPresent("Selenium"));
Above snippet
is usually used to verify the text is present or not.If text is present the testcases are passed or in case text is not present the testcase is failed but execution wont stop.
