How to install Selenium RC

Hi

I am new and not a techi.. I have downloaded 'selenium-server-standalone-2.4.0.jar' and now I want o install it on my system.
As i searched to run the following command on command prompt

java -jar selenium-server-standalone-2.4.0.jar

But I am not able to execute this. I am getting error 'java - jar' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file'.

Do I need to install Java first on my system. Please let me know and let me from where I can install the same.

Install Java, go to the java.com website then download

It will automatically detect what browser version you have and install the correct java.



Once it is installed open a command prompt

enter java -version

It will tell you what java version is installed and it means the classpath environment variable is set correctly.



Selenium server 2.4.0 should start then when you type in java -jar selenium-server-standalone-2.4.0.jar



There is version 2.5.0 now.

I am having diffeent problem starting it. Think it might be because i am using a 64 bit machne.

There is nothing known as installing selenium RC. You have to download jar files from eclipse and include them in eclipse project.
