Not able to locate the inspected Element (FireBug) in the original source code.

on Fri May 24, 2013 9:14 pm
Hello everyone,

I am working in Selenium Webdriver(Java). My webapplication wont work in anyother browser except IE.So i am using firebug lite (also tried Developer tool) to inspect the elements.

Here is my query:

Not able to locate the inspected element through coding.

For example, i am trying to locate "Logout" link in my Application.
Its class name is say "Logout".

My biggest problem is , i cudnt locate that inspected element in the source code too.
However when I am using Firebug lite to view html I am getting something totally different than when I just right click on the site and view the page source.

i.e if i tried to search "Logout" in the source code, i didnt find any such element.

But when i tried to open the source code as DOM (Page) and tried to locate "Logout" ,its there.

I am very confused how come not able to locate the element (which is visible in the page) in the source code??
And why that element is not in the original source but in DOM ??

How to locate such elements in selenium Webdriver?

Note: I tried to locate that element by xpath too (same error"Unable to locate the element").

please guide me.

Awaiting for ur responses.

Thanks in advance
Vidya.
