How to compare two text strings in Selenium IDE Empty How to compare two text strings in Selenium IDE

Tue Mar 25, 2014 7:34 am
It seems that I have found a solution to the need to compare two text strings in Selenium IDE.

Essentially, the string that the retrieved value is being compared against gets passed through both the 'store' and the 'storeEval' functions.

Here's an example:

store | on | CheckBoxState
storeEval | storedVars['CheckBoxState'] | CompareCheckBoxState
storeValue | //html/body/div/div/div[10]/form[2]/fieldset/ul/li[3]/input | SmallCitiesFlag
verifyEval | javascript{storedVars['SmallCitiesFlag']==storedVars['CheckBoxState']} | true

On the first line, I store the word 'on' in a variable
On the second line, I 'storeEval' the variable 'CheckBoxState' into another variable.  This seems to change some attributes of the variable 'CheckBoxState' such that it is usable in verifyEval.
On the third line, I retrieve the checkbox value from my web page.
On the fourth line, the verifyEval function uses javascript to compare the actual and expected values.

Whether I'm comparing for a checked or unchecked checkbox, this comparison returns true every time.

I have found this method to work both with strings and with numbers.

Try below code to validate

store | on | CheckBoxState
storeValue | //html/body/div/div/div[10]/form[2]/fieldset/ul/li[3]/input | SmallCitiesFlag
verifyEval | storedVars['SmallCitiesFlag']==storedVars['CheckBoxState'] | true
