keyPressNative ("for Down arrow ") not working in ubuntu Empty keyPressNative ("for Down arrow ") not working in ubuntu

Hi, I am facing an problem in Ubuntu OS. I have made a script in which I used some keyevents i.e down arrow for that  used following code:

  w.keyPressNative("40"); 
my script is working fine in windows 7.But it fails in Ubuntu 12.04. I have written my code in java using selenium RC. Please help me out.is it a ascii code problem or operating system problem.
