Selenium xpath (newbie) Empty Selenium xpath (newbie)

Fri Aug 05, 2011 5:09 pm
I'm trying to figure out xpath for Selenium but it's not working. I can right click the element I want, get the exact xpath expression and click find (or dbl click the row) and the row of the script will show up in red. For example, on the forumotion hpage, the element which says "Greetings to new..":

/html/body/div/div/div/div/div[2]/div/div/div/div/div/div[2]/div/div[3]/div/ul/li/dl/dd/div/h2
//html/body/div/div/div/div/div[2]/div/div/div/div/div/div[2]/div/div[3]/div/ul/li/dl/dd/div/h2
xpath=//html/body/div/div/div/div/div[2]/div/div/div/div/div/div[2]/div/div[3]/div/ul/li/dl/dd/div/h2

These all fail. I know these aren't exactly the best expressions so I tried the following instead:

//a[@class='forumtitle']

Nothing! Everything in red. What am I doing wrong?
