import org.openqa.selenium.JavascriptExecutor;
within test code. . .
WebDriver driver = new FirefoxDriver();
String s = (String) ((JavascriptExecutor) driver).executeScript("return navigator.userAgent;");
System.out.println(s);
For FF you will get something like:
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1.16) Gecko/20101130 Firefox/3.5.162
For IE, something like:
Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Windows NT 5.1; Trident/4.0; GTB7.2; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; .NET CLR 3.0.4506.2152; .NET CLR 3.5.30729; .NET4.0C; .NET4.0E; AskTB5.3)
You can ' trim' the String s to Firefox/version #
and MSIE version #
I hope that helps, -Phil
