How to find the exact element usnig xpath

I am using selenium Rc can any one tell how to use xpath for finding exact element id. with java

Hi,

you need to create x-path by using xpather or firebug via addon first.

It should look like :
xpath=//img[@alt='The image alt text']
xpath=//table[@id='table1']//tr[4]/td[2]

To insure xapth working or not, use in selenium IDE in target field to locate it.

If it's working find , use command to perform operation on it.

For eg:
Selenium.click("//img[@alt='The image alt text']")

Note: If you dob't know how to create xpath, refer W3School tutorail for xpath.
