SeleniumFlexAPI.as or SeleniumFlexAPI.swc Empty SeleniumFlexAPI.as or SeleniumFlexAPI.swc

Hi all,
For Flex testing , Selenium-Flex_API's old documnent tells to put SeleniumFlexAPI.as in application which we are going to test. But in new version documents of Selenium-Flex_API tells to put SeleniumFlexAPI.swc in application which we are going to test.
Can anybody tell me the difference between this?
