  • If you navigate to a page with a frameset, you must explicitly select the first frame:

    Before:
    driver.get(someHtmlPageWithAFrameSet);
    driver.findElement(By.id("foo");

    After:
    driver.get(someHtmlPageWithAFrameSet);
    driver.switchTo().frame(0);
    driver.findElement(By.id("foo");
  • If you use a "."-separated selector for nested frames, you must replace it with multiple switchTo().frame() calls:

    Before:
    driver.get(somePageWithNestedFrames);
    driver.switchTo().frame("foo.bar.baz");
    driver.findElement(By.id("myButton");

    After:
    driver.get(somePageWithNestedFrames);
    driver.switchTo().frame("foo")
    .switchTo().frame("bar")
    .switchTo().frame("baz")
    driver.findElement(By.id("myButton");
