which is best tool for functional testing?selenium or qtp?

What exactly do you mean with "functional" testing? Functionalities of the UI ? I think selenium is easier than qtp and brings more opportunities.

Basically the major difference is that QTP is paid tool and selenium is open-source.
Both are good functional testing tools.
But selenium will work on only web application and QTP will work on both web and desktop application.
As QTP is paid, it is having good support. You can write  / execute or report result very easily with it.
