Getting the error msg 'Error: Could not find or load main class java-jar' while executing the selenium code in eclipse

Please suggest me why this error msg is coming and how to avoid that error message

Have you started the selenium server if you are using selenium rc you need to start a server...This message some times get displayed due to this reason too..if you are using selenium webdriver you need to include stand alone jar of selenium in your project lib

I am new to selenium, while running the selenium RC though Eclipse->Run->External Tools->External Tools Configuration... am facing the error message as "Error:Could not find or load main class java"
can anyone explain how to run the selenium server without using command prompt
